The exhibition Designing Childhood at Design Museum Brussels unfolds a rich dialogue on the role of design in shaping childhood — developed in collaboration with Centre Pompidou.
Among the highlights are designs by Arne Jacobsen, including the Munkegaard chair and school desk, originally created for Munkegårdsskolen. Conceived as part of a total architectural vision, these pieces reflect Jacobsen’s belief that design should support everyday life – also in spaces for learning.
Placed within a broader international context alongside figures such as Jean Prouvé, the exhibition traces how children’s furniture became a field for experimentation, social thinking, and new materials throughout the 20th century.
A beautifully curated exhibition that brings renewed attention to the intersection of architecture, design, and childhood. On view until September 20th 2026.
