Completed in 1942, the clubhouse forms part of Arne Jacobsen’s design for Gentofte Stadium, following his winning competition proposal in 1936. Today, the building is registered as worthy of preservation.
Plans involving its demolition to make way for a new swimming facility are now open for public consultation until 25 November 2026. The accompanying amendment to the municipal plan proposes removing the clubhouse’s designation as worthy of preservation.
A public meeting will take place at Gentofte Town Hall on 10 November at 19:00, with the option to attend digitally. Planning documents and details on submitting comments are available on Gentofte Municipality’s website.
The proposals have prompted public discussion about the future of the sports park, including possibilities for incorporating Arne Jacobsen’s clubhouse into its development.
