Sika Design was founded after the Second World War, its production based on the limited range of materials available during the post-war years. Later, in the 1950s and 1960s, it began to produce high-quality wicker furniture. Today, it is Scandinavia’s oldest manufacturer of rattan and wicker furniture
The collaboration with Sika Design began in 2013 with the launch of the Paris and Charlottenborg chairs. Both designs date from the beginning of Arne Jacobsen’s career, a time when he created several furniture designs in bamboo and rattan. The lightweight materials allowed him to design light, functional, modern furniture that matched the new functionalist houses he was also designing at this time. Since the launch of the Paris and Charlottenborg chairs in 2013, the collaboration with Sika Design has been expanded to include the Charlottenborg sofa and table.
